Creativity Is The Most Crucial Factor For Future Success
IBM tried to pin down what is important for company success in 2010 by interviewing 1,500 Chief Executive Officers from 60 countries and 33 industries worldwide to find out, what they call the most crucial factor for future success. Turns out: it’s creativity. So let’s get started and think how we can provide the best environment for your team to open up and think out of the box.
1. Get Everyone On Board
One of the most important steps when encouraging your team to be more creative is overcoming the old cliche of the left-brain and right-brain people. People who are good with analytics have the same ability to be creative as the right-brain designers and bloggers in your team. They just stopped believing it and it’s your responsibility to give them back the feeling that they can be artists, too.

Take your crew outside of the office instead of having beer and pizza on Friday evenings. 2. Create A Stimulating Environment
Parents give their everything to equip children with tools to express their creativity and it becomes the job of companies to do this once the kids have grown up. We wouldn’t go as far as to suggest that your office should essentially look like a kids play room (Lego actually put a slide in their office!), but we do think color helps to take the mind off the road most travelled and inspires different approaches.

3. Embrace A Mindset Of Experimentation And Self-Expression
Some companies provide empty walls within the office that are to-be-scribbled-on, where employers are encouraged to express themselves. By doing so, they are able to take initiative in shaping the office environment. Make it possible for your team to be part of your transformation. 4. Communicate Your Values
Communicating your company’s vision to employees is important and helps to keep focusing on what is important. Besides a clear vision, there can be other things you want to communicate to everyone who joins the team and make sure it’s not forgotten. This can be “please switch off the lights and close the windows” or “it’s okay to ask questions” – whatever you think is a message worth spreading should be out there.
